Through The Arch is a commissioned oil painting I created from a client’s photograph, capturing a beautiful view of the beach and water as seen from inside an arched window. The reference image had a quiet, intimate atmosphere—almost as if you were standing in a cool stone passageway, looking out at sunlight dancing on the shoreline. I wanted to preserve that feeling in paint, using layered brushwork to echo the textures of the arch while allowing the distant sea and sky to open the scene into a sense of space and freedom.

Working from the photograph allowed me to study the subtle tones of the water and the way light filtered through the opening, shifting from warm interior shadows to the bright coastal blues beyond. It was an honour to transform a meaningful captured moment into a lasting artwork, and I’m grateful that this piece now hangs in a home where the memory it holds can be enjoyed every day.
